Our Members

AGR provides a safe and supportive environment where girls thrive by doing a variety of exciting and fun activities. Just imagine how much fun a girl you know will have in Guiding!

We welcome all girls to be part of the following groups: Bergeronnettes (6-12) Guides (13-17) Eclaireuses (18-24) Cadres (25+).

Bergeronnettes (6-12)

Bergeronnettes Units meet once a week, usually for an hour and a half.

The hands-on Bergeronnettes' program is all about encouraging girls to develop their own identity and positive relationships with others. Bergeronnettes gain confidence by learning skills that they can use in their daily lives. Programming covers safety and healthy choices, sexual reproductive health and Sexual Transmissible Diseases, science and technology, the arts and eco-awareness and camping.

Sample activities may include:

  • Understanding safe friendships

  • Learning to save money

  • Community service mini projects

  • Celebrating different cultures

  • Planting a kitchen garden

  • Cooking

  • Camping

  • Sessions on reproductive health

Guides (13-17)

The Guides meet at least once in a week for two hours.

At this stage, the Guides start exploring new ways of practicing leadership and community involvement. Their flexible program allows teens to create their own unique Guiding experience. They begin to set up goals for their future and learn valuable skills such as budgeting and event planning. Girl Guides are also involved in active leadership opportunities like global development projects.

Sample activities may include:

  • Planning tips

  • Financial management

  • Learning about reproductive health, HIV/AIDS and other STDs

  • Camping

  • Tying partnerships with the community through small development projects and  participating in global campaigns

Eclaireuses (18-25)

Eclaireuses act as girl ambassadors in their communities. Their boundaries are no longer limited locally; they start exploring international experiences and bring the girl's voice at the global stage.

The Eclaireuses have opportunities to:

  • Join volunteers working groups

  • Lead troops for younger members

  • Run advocacy and influencial campaigns

  • Create community projects and develop partnerships

  • Represent AGR and WAGGGS in conferences and trainings

  • Volunteering at the national center or in WAGGGS world center

Cadres (25+)

Being a Cadre gives you a range of occasions to give back to young groups and to support the Guiding movement. The Cadres oversee the organization's development for growth and foster accountability and members' satisfaction.

The Cadres can:

  • Join volunteers working groups

  • Create partnerships with other NGOs/INGOs

  • Advocate for girls' issues

  • Choose to become commissioners or trainers

  • Represent AGR at the national and global level

  • Mentor and coach groups of young leaders
